Grievance Policy

Marilia Marien is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists. Marilia Marien will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content, and the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of Marilia Marien in consultation with a continuing education committee.

When a grievance arises pertaining to continuing education programs or processes, the complainant should share the complaint as soon as possible, so that the nature of the concern may be addressed in a timely fashion. The complaint can be sent by email to CEprograminfo@gmail.com. In the subject line put: Grievance Policy Contact and the names of the program instructors. Alternatively, the complaint can be mailed to 1005 Pontiac Road #157, Drexel Hill, PA, 19026. On the back of the envelope, write: Grievance Policy Contact and the names of the program instructors.

Marilia Marien or, if she is one of the presenters, a member of the continuing education committee, will review the complaint and seek consultation as needed to address the concerns and arrive at a reasonable resolution. All possible care will be taken to uphold the confidentiality of the complainant. Marilia Marien or the member of the continuing education committee will formulate a response to the complaint, including any action if necessary, which will be conveyed directly to the complainant. For example, a grievance concerning a speaker will be conveyed to that speaker. A grievance concerning a program offering, content, facilities or costs may be resolved by modifications to future offerings, and/or by providing a partial or full refund to the complainant, or an alternative opportunity should that be possible. The complainant will be advised in writing via email or postal mail of the response to the complaint. If the grievance cannot be resolved by the above plan, Marilia Marien and the member of the continuing education committee assisting with resolution of the complaint will seek counsel from the American Psychological Association Office of CE Sponsor Approval in reference to any complaint that is not resolved at this stage of the procedure. The complainant will be advised in writing via email or postal mail of the response to the complaint, following this consultation. Every effort will be made to resolve the complaint within 14 business days of formal receipt of the complaint.

Confidential records of all grievances, the process of resolving the grievance and the outcome will be kept in the locked paper files and/or password protected computer files of Marilia Marien. A paper copy of the Grievance Policy is available upon request.
